In Daddy Cool,Mammootty is going to play the role of father, who is also a Crime Branch police officer named Antony Simon. Model turned actress Richa Pallod is making her debut in Malayalam movie .She will play the role of wife to Mammootty as well as the mother to their seven year old son, Aadi Simon. This new film will be a directorial debut by Aashiq Abu, a former assistant of Kamal and will be produced by Alwin Antony.
The story is about the relationship between a Dad and son. They admire each other. All the foolishness done by the son is well supported by the dad and mother gets fed up with them.


Others in the cast are Indrajith, Kalabhavan Mani, Sai Kumar, Vijaya Raghavan, Babu Raj, Suraj, Anoop Chandran, Radhika, Lena etc and the camera will be handled by Sameer Thahir (BigB fame). Lyrics of the film were written by Anil Panachooran, Santhosh Varma and Venu where as the music was scored by Biji Bal.


Mammootty says politics not his cup of tea
Thiruvananthapuram, March 22 (IANS) Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who considers himself a “liberal Leftist”, has said that he was neither interested in entering politics nor predicting the election results as he is a busy actor and not a politician.


“Astrology is not my business and since I am not into politics, I will refrain myself from saying something that I don’t know. Ask me about my profession and I will reply,” Mammootty told IANS over phone from Kochi when asked about his views on the coming Lok Sabha polls.

“Let it be over and I will tell you,” he added on a lighter note.

Questions are often raised about the superstar entering politics as he is the chairman of Kairali TV, a channel promoted by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

Mammootty, who is busy shooting for family entertainer “Daddy Cool” in Kochi, said three of his films are ready for release and he is equally upbeat about all three.
‘Pazhazzi Raja’, ‘Patanthil Bhootham’ and ‘Kutti Shranku’ are all different in treatment and the audience can expect a good experience. Similarly, my hands are full for the rest of the year too. So right now I am fully occupied and I do not have the time to think of anything else,” Mammootty said.

Mammmootty - Sibi Malayil team after 15 Years
Sagaram Sakshi was the last joint venture of Mammootty and Sibi. After fifteen years they are joining again. Other films of this team were Raareeram, Mudra, Thaniyaavarthanam, Vichaarana, August Onnu and Parampara.
The story of the new project is based on medical profession. Mammootty dons the role of a Doctor. Heroine has not yet been finalised. K.Gireesh Kumar has penned the script.

Mammootty - Ranjith team again : Palery Manikyam

Mammootty and Renjith teams up again with Palery Manikyam. After the success of romantic entertainer Thirakkatha, scenarist-turned-director Ranjith is back with Palery Manikyam, an investigative thriller. Mammootty is the hero, playing the role of a Delhi-based investigator who comes to Palery village to investigate a murder mystery.
This is the fifth time Mammootty is working with Ranjith. Earlier, they have been together for Black, Kaiyoppu, Prajapathy and Nasrani, of which Nasrani was not directed by Ranjith, but by veteran Joshy of Twenty:20 fame.
Palery Manikyam is based on a famous novel 'Palery Maanikyam - Oru Paathira Kolapathakathinte Katha' by T.P. Rajeevan, first published in Mathrubhumi as a weekly serial. This period film revolves around the infamous Manikyam murder case, which was in the news around five decades ago. Ranjith has already started picking up the cast and members for this project, which is expected to be very different.



Pattanathil Bhootham Stalled

Ee Pattanathil Bhootham, which has Mammootty playing the hero, was in trouble recently. This time it was van drivers of the Pollachi region. The van drivers in the Pollachi area in Tamil Nadu created a stir yesterday stalling the shooting of the Malayalam film E Pattanathil Bhootham. The van drivers in that area had been stressing that local cars and vans must be rented and no vehicles from outside should be permitted. However, the crew from Kerala did not heed to their requests and this was apparently the

cause for the rouse. On the intervention of the police and their assurance the van drivers were pacified. Following the incident the shooting resumed.



Uppukandam Brothers, Action Back
A sequel to the hit Malayalam movie Uppukandam Brothers is to be made with the name as Uppukandam Brothers, Action Back. Release and distribution will be done by a new company named Malayalam Big Screen . T.S. Suresh Babu, the director of first part will direct the second part as well. Reji Kumar is the producer. The screen play and dialogues are by Reji Mathew. Utpal V.Nayanar will wield the camera.

Mammooty is the hero. Others in the cast include Kalabhavan Mani, Mukesh, Sreenivasan, Innocent, Jagathy, Salim Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Harisree Asokan, Sai Kumar, Anoop Menon, Padmapriya, Bhama, Jagadheesh, Baiju and others. The shooting will start in Kottayam next month. \


Mammootty feels Malayalam films cannot win an Oscar

Malayalam superstar Mammootty expressed during his address at the mammoth reception held to honour Oscar Award winner Resul Poopkutty by Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce at Durbar Hall in Kochi that a Malayalam filmcan never win an Oscar. He said, “Malayalam cinema will never win an Oscar award. A movie running for Oscars should have a minimum of 15-day screening at New York and Los Angeles counties. Moreover, a foreigner judging the movie should understand Malayalam. If we’re delivering the dialogues in English, he should also be able to understand our English.”



PazhasiRaja to grace Independence Day
Malayalam superstar Mammootty's biopic magnum opus historical film Pazhassi Raja, directed by ace director Hariharan and scripted by literary giant M.T. Vasudevan Nair, is being dubbed in Tamil with the same title and has been scheduled to grace theatres across Tamil Nadu on August 15.

To be simultaneously released in Malayalam, Tamil,Telugu and Hindi, the movie, according to the makers, will be the biggest release ever in the history of South Indian cinema with more than 200 prints in the circuit.

Mammootty plays the title role of legendary ruler and warrior Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, known to be the first freedom fighter of India, who took on the British in the forests of Malabar in the 18th century. The movie showcases his heroic fights against the British in the jungles of Wayanad during the 1790s.

Popular Tamil-Telugu actor Suman plays the villain, Pazhaiveetan Chandu and Tamil actor Sarath Kumar plays Edachena Kunkan, the chief lieutenant of Pazhassi Raja. This is Sarath Kumar's first appearance in
Malayalam. Thilakan dons the role of king Kurubranaad, who revolted and plotted against Pazhassi Raja. Jagathy Sreekumar dons the role of Kannara Menon, an employee of the British Government. Padmapriya and Kanihaa (also spelt Kanika) are the heroines.

Produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner of Gokulam Films, Pazhassi Raja is made with the biggest-ever budget for a Malayalam movie, rumoured to be more than 20 crores. Manoj K. Jayan, Peter Handley Evans and Harry Key play pivotal roles in the film which has music by maestro Ilayaraja and songs penned by poet O.N.V. Kurup.
